Focus

Let's start out with the definition... "A central point; point of concentration." I don't know about you but I tend to be all over the place. My point of concentration seems to be everywhere. I easily find myself off track. You know when you intend to sit down and do accounting for your business but then "oh there's this awesome article to read you found online" because you picked up your phone after seeing that little red notification dot in the corner. Perhaps the Lord wanted you to sit and read with him but you walk into the kitchen and see dirty dishes so you think, I'll just do this first, but then you look at your phone and Facebook brought up all the old memories so you sit and reminisce for awhile.
It's constant.
I often find myself wanting to focus on getting my purpose aligned with His but soooo many distractions. I don't know about you but I get bored easily with projects. I do them for a little while then I'm off on another project. There is no lack of variety in my little world.
Self Discipline. It's a thing.
I said "no" to myself the other day. It was hard. I wanted to sit and relax but I needed to cook dinner so I cooked. And we saved about $40.00 by not eating out.
How often do you say "no" to yourself.
No to laziness. No to procrastination. No to binge watching. No to scrolling. No to one more donut.
No to distraction.
I'm working on it. It's not easy. My flesh wants to be in control but I know if I obey the Lord and say no, I'm better for it.
It means in the moment when your flesh wants to rule, you ask yourself "What would be the outcome if I chose to say no?" I would think most of the time it would be rewarding if you did say no.
So cheers to self discipline! Choose to stay focused on Him. Let Him lead you to greater joy in Him by staying focused on His plans for you.
With His Love,
Heather
